Every bottle goes through seven different processes in its transformation. Each glass is cut, the edge ground and then melted to create a smooth surface to drink from. To make the glasses as strong and hard-wearing as possible, they are then placed in a long oven at varying temperatures for two hours. Once out of the oven the glasses are printed and sandblasted with individual designs.
From start to finish, it takes about three hours for a bottle to go through the process of transformation into a wine glass.
One of the biggest problems faced is getting enough bottles to make the glasses everyone wants. Most of the glass bottles that are put into bottle banks or kerbside collections in the UK never get sorted but are broken or crushed immediately.
